Coupon Use is Increasing

I guess it is no surprise with the current economy that everyone is looking for ways to save money. I know I am finding that among my friends some who never bothered to use coupons before are using them now. Some of this is due to job loss of course but most of it seems to be the realization and an overall understanding that the good times are over.

September is National Coupon Month

Well you learn something new every day. I did not know it was National Coupon Month but it is. The Daily Commercial has some great trivia on coupons. And who doesn’t like trivia?
As my mother used to say as me, my sister, brother and father would call out the correct answer to some obscure Jeopardy question, “Why do you people know this?” Because it is out there and we just love to know useless facts.

I ran out of coffee on Tuesday and ran over to Big Lots in the afternoon to get some more. For those of you that don’t know Big Lots has a great little grocery section that is full of both name brand products and unheard of products. You can get spices and condiments, cereal, chocolate, canned goods, pastas – assorted and rotating goods. You can get some fantastic deals.

I was reading an article about factory food and the new movie Food, Inc. There was a section that really struck a cord with me about paying the real cost of food…
